Host Jesse Tyler is joined by Bret Keisling, host of The ESOP Podcast, to discuss Jesse's takeaways from The NCEO 2023 Annual Conference held in April, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri and attended by almost 2,000 people.
Topics discussed on this Episode include improved communication techniques including how to tell if training isn't resonating with employee owners, and how to tell if there's an "illusion" of understanding, rather than actual comprehension. He also discusses the importance of improved financial literacy and why employee owners should know their "critical number" for personal performance and why this information should be shared and understood throughout the company.
Jesse discusses tips and tricks for improved video training, including the value of short modules inexpensively recorded on an iPhone or Samsung. He also stresses the importance distributing video and other content throughout the year, and not just during October's Employee Ownership Month.
Jesse also described the sessions that discussed burnout and mental health among employee-owners. Jesse shares his belief that the average employee-owner (and people generally) are operating on a tank that's only 25% full, following the pandemic and other societal issues that have taken place in the last few hours. Jesse specifically commended Dallan Guzinsky for an important and powerful session on this topic.
Jesse also opined that of all the conferences he's ever attended, #NCEO23 had the best food of all of them!
